Rallye Charlemagne Golden Palace 2026 puts inclusion in the spotlight

The Rallye Charlemagne Golden Palace 2026 offered far more than motorsport action. During the official test session on 3 July, ten young people from the Institut Médico-Éducatif (IME) in Saint-Hilaire-sur-Helpe enjoyed an extraordinary experience by becoming rally co-drivers for a day.

This initiative, carried outin partnership with the IME and the Copilotage Inclusif association, reflects a shared ambition to make motorsport more accessible and to demonstrate that everyone can find their place in an ambitious sporting project.

The result of months of preparation

This special day was the culmination of several months of learning. Throughout the programme, the ten participants discovered what it takes to become a rally co-driver : reading pace notes, communication with the driver, understanding racing lines, and learning how a rally crew works together.

On the day of the event, each participant took their place in a real rally car alongside their assigned driver, fully equipped with a helmet and racing suit. Their name was even displayed on the car as the official co-driver , completing an immersive experience that rewarded months of dedication and preparation.

An experience that builds confidence and encourages personal growth

Beyond the sporting challenge, this initiative highlighted the participants' abilities, commitment and determination. By giving them the opportunity to take part in a real test session, the project helped strengthen their self-confidence while also encouraging a more inclusive perspective on disability. Through this experience, rallying became a powerful vehicle for inclusion, showing that passion, learning and teamwork can help overcome prejudice.
